The Rambler boot is a faithful interpretation of the classic moc-toe workboot, with some subtle but substantial safety upgrades specific to motorcycle use.
Beyond the 1.1mm leather skin the Rambler is lined with XTM-fiber, a medley of Kevlar and Cordura, and it’s reinforced in all the right places—ankle, toe box and heel cup. Plus it’s built with proven Goodyear welt construction, and can be resoled by any good cobbler.
The leather gusset and the oiled nature of the leather makes them passably water repellent in a routine spat of rain, but unlike most other such styled moto boots on the market—as with all John Doe motorcycle boots—the Ramblers are not waterproof, per se.
And that can be a good thing if you want a boot with protection you can ride in, with performance you can walk in.
Opinions vary widely, but one can make an argument that the time potentially spent in wet socks might be worth it for all the sunny days spent on and off the bike without clammy feet from a waterproof and maybe-not-that-breathable membrane.
Offered in an off-white, oil-resistant sole in two shell colors— or cognac brown—this is a position player in anyone’s wardrobe, performing well about town or aboard the bike.
Like all John Doe’s boots the Ramblers are proudly made in Portugal, and they all come with a CE Certification testifying to its motorcycle bonafides.
